Depeche Mode is an English electronic band formed in Basildon, Essex in 1980. The group’s lineup includes founding members Dave Gahan (singing), Martin Gore (guitar, keyboard, singing) and Andy Fletcher (keyboard). . Depeche Mode released their debut studio album Speak & Spell in 1981, bringing them into the British new wave line of music. Founding member, Vince Clarke left the group after releasing the album and left the band with only a trio to record A Broken Frame released the following year. Gore took on the role of writing the main music and at the end of 1982, Alan Wilder officially joined the band to fill the vacancy of Clarke, creating the line-up to continue active for the next 13 years.

Depeche Mode has 50 songs in the UK Singles Chart and seventeen albums in the top 10 of the UK chart; The group also sold more than 100 million copies globally. Q chose the band to be included in the list of “50 World Change Bands!”.  Depeche Mode also ranked 58th in VH1’s “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”. In December 2016, Billboard magazine ranked Depeche Mode 10th on the list of the most successful dance club artists of all time. In November 2017, it was announced that Depeche Mode will be one of the artist nominees at the 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
